A fresh, light and contemporary kitchen replacement. Working with a local builder, Lockstar Construction, a pillar was removed which had previously dominated the room, whilst acting as a support for a black granite peninsula-like table where they liked to eat as a family. So we kept the open pensinsula-table concept for them, rather than have base units underneath. Another improvement was the widening of the hatch into the dining room which the builders curved to match the archway into the living room and the replacement of the floor tiles with lighter coloured, larger ones. Toughened glass behind the hob was colour matched to the Turkish Blue feature wall. Warmth and texture was added to the composition by the inclusion of rustic oak bifolding effect wall units.
