Silkmore Lane

A bespoke modern kitchen for a local graphic designer and his wife who sent us images of the sort of feel they wanted. Their kitchen space was enlarged by Steve Pett and his amazing building team who also created a new laundry room, cloakroom and utility room within the existing house space. The new kitchen position was now looking out to the back garden rather than being at front of the house. Chocolate Oak veneered tall housings and Neptune's Smoke lacquered handleless base units were complimented by matching wood effect Egger edging strip on the larder shelves and Egger dark grey cabinet interiors. Crisp dark grey Legrabox interior drawer boxes and 1.2 metre long drawers added to the contemporary feel.  The client chose his own tall anthracite cupboard door handles, the others being push-open, push-close to keep the focus on just two pairs of handles.  A leather finish cloudy-look quartz picked up the smoky hues.  Siemens downdraft clear glass extractor.

Bluebell Lane

Bluebell Cottage is full of character with its Lovelace style external and internal walls and its very clever extension done a few years back.  The original kitchen lacked natural light, partly due to the low ceilings, so whatever we did we had to keep the kitchen as light as possible.  Beforehand, the clients had a beautiful block of wood as a mantle above their Aga in their Shaker-style kitchen, but the modern style of kitchen which they wanted rendered it unreusable. By introducing strongly figured, book-matched Satin Walnut veneered wall units, we were able to replace the character the mantle had.  Warm white smooth-painted base units,  Primordia Caesarstone leather-finish worktops and matching wall colour glass splashback keep the look light and airy..  We also added another area where they had had a desk in the kitchen, in so extending the kitchen workspace.  There was no place for tall housings in this kitchen, so all larder food is stored in drawers and cupboards with internal pull-out shelves.  Another important part of the brief was to include a shelf to display some precious pottery. Finally, the replacement of the old Aga with a new teal Everhot range ensured the kitchen retained its warmth and charm.

Heathview

Grain matched walnut was chosen to work sympathetically with the  collection of  antique furniture, successfully fusing antique and modern styles.  Mitred worktop edges on the island cloak and contrast with the beautiful veneer. This was a new- build house and the second kitchen project we have worked on with this client.
